Bodie Island Lighthouse, Whalebone, NC
The current Bodie Island Lighthouse is the third to stand on this location. Wrought with problems since the beginning, the original Bodie Island Lighthouse was slanted, the second was blown up by Confederate Troops during the Civil War and the third currently stands proudly. The lighthouse itself is not open to the public, but there is a museum and old keeper's house on the premises.
