Cockspur Beacon, Savannah, GA


Originally built around 1837, the Cockspur Beacon survived years of environmental abuse before being destroyed by a hurricane and was rebuilt in 1857. The lighthouse shut down in 1909 and is now cared for by the National Park Service and is part of the Fort Pulaski National Park. It is open daily for visitors to view, but is only accessible by boat.
