Old River School Historic District, Freeport, IL
The Old River School Historic District captures much of Freeport's history in the preserved houses and structures found here. The city's oldest home, which was built in 1838, stands in district, as well as surviving wrought iron bridge, the Van Buren Bridge, which is one of the last of these standing. The district is found between the Pecatonica River, Brick Avenue, Galena Avenue and Clark Street.
