Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, Ontonagon, MI


Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park or better known as just the Porkies, is located 15 mi (24 km) west of Ontonagon and just 3 mi (5 km) west of Silver City. Encompassing nearly 60,000 acres (24,281 ha), this state park has remained much unchanged over the years. Boasting lakes, streams and forests, the Porkies features a downhill ski hill, backcountry campsites, a Wilderness Visitor Center and more. Canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and other outdoor sports are popular pastimes in this park.
