Poverty Point State Historic Site, , LA


The location of Poverty Point National Monument, this site shows evidence of a Native American culture in Louisiana from 1200 BC. There are earthen mounds and complex ridges, as well as evidence of far-reaching trade. There is now an interpretive museum and guided walking and tram tours.
