Rachel Carson Homestead
Rachel Carson was a writer, ecologist and scientist who enjoyed nature and grew up in Springdale, a community found about half-an-hour from Pittsburgh. The home were Carson lived now welcomes visitors for guided tours of the house and the grounds, including a nature trail. There is also a gift shop that sells Carson's books, environmental products and other souvenirs.
