Surge Narrows Provincial Park, Quadra Island, Canada
Known for its strong tidal currents and violent waves, paddlers are warned to avoid paddling the waters of Seymour Narrows altogether and only attempt Surge Narrows at slack tide. Boaters should be experienced and well versed in the areas tidal changes as the water can reach speeds of up to 16 knots. These high tidal changes and many reefs sustain an abundance of marine life including sea urchins, sea cucumbers, sea stars and more. Camping is permitted on the upland portion of the park, but there are no facilities.
